How To Give Brilliant Talks

You’ve got one job. And that’s to make a connection with your audience. How? With fascinating subject matter, effective story structure effortlessly delivered in your own unique style. And loads of preparation.

Effective presenting should be invisible. And if it isn’t we need to fix it. Whether you’re in front of your webcam, your students, behind the Downing Street lectern, on TV, in the corporate world, or on stage at The Royal Albert Hall.

Whatever you want to say, whoever you want to say it to, I can help you say it better.

30 Years’ Experience

dallas-onstage-square.jpg

My workshops draw on 30 years’ experience as an actor, writer, director, and as one of the world’s leading factual television presenters.

I use a mix of practical work (when possible) centred around improvisation, as well as story theory, discussion, rehearsal, and video playback analysis.

Through the British Council’s FameLab competition, I’ve worked with hundreds of academics and professionals from all over the world, helping them talk about their work with a new clarity and confidence.

Example Workshops

All workshops are specifically tailored for individual clients. Examples include:

A – Group WORKSHOPS (in-person)

1 or 2 day bootcamps preparing you for presenter liberation. These are normally held in traditional theatre rehearsal spaces. You can watch two short behind-the-scenes films of my FameLab training process here and here.

B – Presenter Therapy (online)

On stage or in front of camera tonight? FEAR NOT. Emergency quick-fix sounding board help for a one off gig. I’ll help you organise your thoughts with some fine grade sandpaper. Even if we’ve only got a couple of hours, we’ll nail it together.

C – Group/Individual (online)

4-hour scenic route-march through the most important aspects of authentic presenting. Covering performance, story structure, and the technical aspects of presenting online.
